LOS ANGELES - Sept. 1, 2024 - PRLog -- Save the date for a memorable night when Concerned Citizens of South Central Los Angeles (CCSCLA) presents a double movie premiere and fundraising occasion on October 5, 2024, at 7:00 PM at The Beehive in Los Angeles. This special private gathering will unite prominent figures from the hip-hop, film, television, and nonprofit industries, all rallying behind a vital local cause.
Being an iconic black owned event venue, The Beehive celebrates the rich culture, talent, and diversity of Los Angeles. The venue is set to showcase the premiere of two impactful films that highlight the vibrant creative community and the urgent social issues impacting the local Los Angeles neighborhoods.
The event's highlights include:
The film screening of "Not Without Alonzo," produced by Noreen McClendon and directed by Professor Timothy Conley, delves into the beginnings of West Coast Hip-Hop by featuring insights from iconic figures such as The D.O.C., DJ Yella, Ice Cube, DJ Battlecat, Kurtis Blow, DL Hughley, Arabian Prince, The Poetess, JJ Fad, and DJ Cli-N-Tel. Noreen McClendon will host a live Q&A session after the screening.
Join us for a screening of "Something About Mother," a film directed by Millena Gay and written by Noreen McClendon. Starring Lydia Cornell, Dawnn Lewis, Cleavon McClendon, and Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, this screening will be followed by a live Q&A session with the director and cast, providing an in-depth exploration of the film's themes and creative process.
Additionally, this occasion acts as a crucial fundraising chance, jointly sponsored by CCSCLA and The Sisterhood Alliance Freed & Equity (SAFE) Partnership. The money collected will aid in building a transitional residence for women reentering society after incarceration. This secure refuge will offer vital support, training in life skills, and opportunities for mental and physical health services to facilitate the successful reintegration of these women into the community.
Reasons to Attend:
This exclusive news media event is a must for those who are enthusiastic about Los Angeles' creative arts, social justice, and community empowerment. It will bring together a varied audience, comprising influencers from the entertainment sector, nonprofit executives, community advocates, government representatives, and business financiers.
